New Requirements for Thailand Privilege Members

New Requirements for Thailand Privilege Members

The Thailand Privilege Card Co., Ltd. has announced new regulations for membership applications and the visa affixation process, following an update from the Thailand Immigration Bureau.

The new regulations apply to applicants of the Thailand Privilege Residence Program who hold dual or naturalized citizenship, introducing additional documentation requirements and an updated visa affixation timeline. The changes are effective immediately and will remain in place until further notice.

Applicants with Single Citizenship

This applies to individuals who have held only one citizenship since birth and have not been naturalized.

  • Additional Documents Required: The existing membership application procedures apply
  • Estimated Approval Time: Approximately four to six weeks from submission to the Immigration Office
  • Visa Affixation Requirements: No specific deadline applies, but applicants are encouraged to complete the visa affixation process at their earliest convenience

Applicants with Dual or Naturalized Citizenship

This applies to individuals who have acquired a new citizenship, either replacing or adding to their original citizenship.

  • Additional Documents Required:
    1. A copy of the applicant’s original passport, including any previous passports if the name or surname has changed
    2. Official proof of renunciation of the original citizenship (if applicable)
    3. Documents verifying income and the source of funds to be used for the membership application
    4. Proof of permanent residence in Thailand or abroad for the past six months
  • Estimated Approval Time: Approximately six to eight weeks from submission to the Immigration Office
  • Visa Affixation Requirements: Visa affixation must be completed within 30 days of receiving the Welcome Letter. If not completed within 30 days, an additional background check will be required, extending the process by approximately four to six weeks

New applicants are encouraged to review these updated requirements carefully before submitting their applications to avoid any unnecessary delays.

While this update introduces a few additional steps for certain applicants, the Thailand Privilege Residence Program continues to be one of the most convenient long-term residence options in Thailand. The overall process remains clear and straightforward, offering a simple pathway to long-term residence in the country.
